h CHOP HOUSE
at HENDERSON CASTLE
Outstanding French American Cuisine... a Truly Unique Dining Experience
There are countless fine-dining restaurants in southwest Michigan and the northern Indiana region. If you dine at these restaurants, you would likely say that many offer somewhat distinctive dining styles, atmosphere, and of course, cuisine. However, if you get the opportunity to get to Kalamazoo, you may want to experience h Chophouse at Henderson Castle.
The h CHOPHOUSE is unique in many ways. First, it is located in the enchanting Henderson Castle which dates back to 1895. The story of this extraordinary home began with a local, Frank Henderson, one of Kalamazoo’s most successful businessmen as the owner and president of the Henderson-Ames Company, which made uniform regalia for secret societies, fraternal organizations, and the military. This, however, is a story within itself, so we will save it for another time.
The h CHOPHOUSE is also distinctive due to its owner and Master Chef, François Louis Moyet. Moyet is a well-known chef in the Michigan market and, in fact, through much of the Midwest. If you review his resume, you would likely be impressed, having prepared meals for the likes of President George H. W. Bush, Diana, Princess of Wales, and even Queen Elizabeth II. He was born and raised in Bourges, France, where he began his culinary education at age 15. His career was interrupted when he was called to serve his country however, upon his return, he received his master's degree in French culinary art.
Later, Moyet married an American and moved to the US, which he now considered home, and continues to live in the Midwest. According to Francois, its his love for both France and America that has influenced his culinary skills. This is the foundation for h CHOPHOUSE which features French American cuisine and delights palettes with a variety of delectable dishes.

Master Chef François Louis Moyet is known for his incredible soups. Pictured is his Lobster Bisque. The same soup he prepared for the Queen!

Today, h CHOPHOUSE is considered by many to be one of the best restaurants in Michigan. A modest chef, Moyet will tell you, "It is not about me; I am just a chef. It's about the magic of the castle. It's about having a great support team. And it's about our desire to bring our guests exceptional dining experience."
