Home Food Delivery
upsides & downsides

It's no secret that Food Delivery Services are taking over the way that Americans are eating, and for some people, that's great. Others... not so much!
Some people have arguments as to why Food Delivery Services are bad, and their arguments hold great validation. However, on the flip side, the people who support food delivery services also offer valid arguments.
So, here, we have compiled a list of the Top 6 Upsides and Downsides to Home Food Delivery Services.
And without further ado... here they are!

UPSIDE: CONVENIENCE
Home Food Delivery Services make it easy and convenient to order whatever restaurant and food you are feeling at that moment without having to even get up off the couch! Well, that is, of course, if you have your wallet in your pocket!

UPSIDE: RELAXATION
Having food delivered right to your front doorstep means that you can relax throughout the entire night while watching your favorite show and eating your favorite meal! You can throw on some comfortable pajamas, rub off the day's makeup, and throw your feet up... no one's looking! It's just you in the house! Another Home Delivery Upside (or is it?)

UPSIDE: DISCOVERING SOMETHING NEW
Food Delivery Services make it very easy to discover a new restaurant (or maybe even a new food) that you wouldn't usually have ordered while out on the town! The comfort of being in your own home will sometimes make you feel spontaneous about certain things, and you could try a new cuisine you've never even heard of! This also helps you discover new restaurants you didn't even know existed because they are listed on your food app!

DOWNSIDE: WAIT TIMES
If you've used Food Delivery Services before, you've probably dealt with the frustrations of the fact that it typically takes a lot longer to receive your food this way than if you physically went out to a restaurant. This is because not only is a third party sending your order to the store, but restaurants will often take precedence of the guests within their establishment by making their food first. You then have to wait for your delivery driver to arrive at the restaurant, drive to your home (in hopes of finding it), and receive your food all before getting cold!

DOWNSIDE: SOCIAL DISCONNECT
Ordering from a Home Food Delivery Service can become a serious, nasty little habit if you're not careful. It seems so harmless because of its convenience, yet it could turn into something much bigger than you could imagine.
When you're eating at home, you're socially distancing yourself from others and potentially building up habits of isolation, which, in the long run, no matter how nice that sounds now, just isn't a good thing.

DOWNSIDE: PRICEY
Add taxes, restaurant fees, delivery fees, and delivery tips to your bill, and let's see how much more Home Food Delivery is costing you. Sure, you can argue that you're saving money on gas and a waitress tip. But if you pick up, you typically won't leave as high of a tip as a delivery driver or when you're dining in. And as for gas, let that not be an excuse, because it's not a very good one! Furthermore, it again becomes so convenient that you end up ordering Home Delivery... a lot more often than when you go out and dine.

Home Food Delivery will have its upsides and downsides, as you can clearly see, no matter the delivery company or the restaurant or food you're ordering.
Now it's your choice to see whether or not ordering that Chicken Chimichanga from your couch is worth it or not!
